) and Manas,
Notice the outfits of the Muslims and the Venetian visitors. The Muslims are wearing colourful and majestic outfits—even the “man on the street”, while most Venetian ambassadors are dressed colourless outfits.
And did any of you noticed the different ethnic Muslims presence on the court?
Comment by gess March 29, 2007 @ 8:50 pmThe image is quite small to notice the details!
What struck me is the nature, not only the Muslims, is shown colorful. In there, the colorful Venetian ambies are looking out-of-place!

Comment by Manas March 30, 2007 @ 4:06 pmAs a historian, this is my all time favorite work of art. Beyond beautiful scenery and richness in colors, symbols and expression, what strucks the beholder is the authenticity in details! The great Venetian artist (a student of Bellini, no doubt) introduced an impeccable piece of historical evidence, let alone the great esteem of its artistic value. However, I am much eager to know: How was the exact date 1511 known? I knew it should have been made in the turn of the century (after 1490 AD, and not later than 1522), but then how was the evidence drawn as to 1511? Please help!
